Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, are a major international multi -sports, parasports event governed by the international Paralympic Committee. Scheduled as the 16th summer paralympic games they are ongoing in Japan, between 24 August and 5 September 2021.

Originally scheduled to take place between 21 August and 6 September 2020, both the Olympics and Paralympics were postponed to 2021 in March 2020 as a result of the Covid, and is held behind closed doors with no public spectators permitted due to an emergency situation in Tokyo.

The torch relay route was announced on 21 November 2019, there will be a Heritage Flame Celebration that will be held in Stoke Mandeville and flame lighting festivals will take place in 43 of Japan’s 47 prefectures between 13 and 17 August 2020. Torch relays will be scheduled from 18 to 21 August throughout four prefectures that will co-host Paralympic events during the run-up to the Paralympic Opening Ceremony. The flames from each of the flame lighting festivals hosted in each prefecture will be brought together in Tokyo on 21 August where the Paralympic Flame will be officially lit, the last four days of the torch relay will start in Tokyo. The locations in which the torch relay goes through will be similar to the 2020 summer Olympics torch rely

Newly introduced badminton and Taekwondo are the attraction of this time and at the same time they eliminated Sailing and 7-a-side football.

The Paralympic games follow up the Olympic games for people with a wide range of disabilities, including impaired muscle power or muscle movement, limb deficiency, leg length difference, short stature, hypertonia, ataxia, athetosis, vision or intellectual impairment disabilities. There are winter and summer Paralympics, and they happen every four years just like the Olympics. The Paralympics are further broken down into several categories within the individual sports in order to make it fair for competitors physically, visually and mentally.

Many times, I felt that the Paralympics not getting much attraction from the common people. Unfortunately, the Paralympics don’t get the recognition or value they deserve. Now here is why these athletes need to be recognized and celebrated more widely. Not only are these people highly skilled in their fields, but they also defeated their disabilities. They display great determination and courage to overcome mental and physical obstacles. They are truly inspirational because they prove that few things are impossible. The Paralympics also raise awareness of mental and physical disabilities in the hope of creating a better life for those with disabilities. It therefore serves to change public perception of disabilities in order to provide the Paralympics with better facilities that would drastically improve their quality of life. It is equally important like original Olympics and we have to congratulate the winners and participants from our country
